Fairy Realm

Fairy

Recognised as the primordial race, Fairies are believed to be the earliest beings to have emerged not only within this realm, but across the myriad of other realms that exist. Their origins are woven deep into the fabric of creation itself, marking them as ancient and foundational entities.

Fairies stand as the closest embodiment of elemental spirits, seamlessly connecting with the very essence of nature and the earth. Despite this intrinsic mastery, they are exceptionally frail in physical terms when compared to the other races within the higher realms. Their prowess does not lie in brute strength or martial might, but rather in their unparalleled command over the natural elements. Fairies are capable of manipulating and communing with the forces of earth, wind, water, nature, and ice, allowing them to influence the world around them in ways others can only aspire to.

Characteristics

In terms of appearance, Fairies are remarkably similar to humans, but are distinguished by a number of striking features. Their most distinctive trait is their vibrant, butterfly-like wings, which shimmer with iridescent colours and delicate patterns unique to each Fairy. These wings are often regarded as a symbol of their connection to nature and their ethereal origins. Additionally, Fairies possess intricate markings upon their skin, which can vary in design and location from one individual to another, further signifying their elemental heritage.

The eyes of Fairies are notably bright and sparkling, often described as holding an otherworldly gleam, and their ears tend towards an elfin shape—longer and pointed. However, it is not unheard of for some Fairies to have ears that more closely resemble those of humans, with the variance adding to the diversity of their kind.

Personality-wise, Fairies are famed for their mischievousness and a playful attitude that permeates their interactions. This whimsical nature often masks a shrewd ability to discern truth from falsehood, as all Fairies are born with the innate power to see through lies and deception. This trait makes them formidable adversaries for those who seek to cloak their motives or conceal their history, as Fairies are unlikely to be fooled.

When it comes to elemental affinities, Fairies are intrinsically aligned with aspects of nature. It is rare, if not impossible, for Fairies to develop affinities beyond the domains of Earth, Nature, Wind, Water, and Ice. Their connection to these elements is both a source of power and identity, shaping their culture and abilities across generations.

Fairies are also renowned for their extraordinary longevity, often living for upwards of 2,000 years. This lengthy lifespan allows them to accumulate wisdom and experience. Exceptions to this remarkable longevity exist within specific lineages, such as the MacMorgan family, as well as amongst those of the esteemed Greater Fae rank, whose lifespans and abilities may differ in unique ways.
