The Dimensional Rift
Everything starts, and ends within the rift
There are those within the higher realms that seek to oppose the natural order by means of rebellion and opposition of ruling force, and then there are those who wish to bring an end to the natural order entirely by means of destruction and chaos, by whatever means possible.
Within the Rift lies a group of four that seek to follow the will of the God of Destruction and obey his rule, and they are Apocalypse Authors, individuals that fall into certain concepts that align with the God of Destruction’s will, those that fall into those concepts must be chosen by the God himself to even be granted a seat as an Apocalypse Author.
When chosen an Apocalypse Author will be given a new title and name, along with power and abilities to reflect their new name and title. The power, and abilities they are given will be unique to the name they were given.
Listed below is the ability each Apocalypse Author has, and what it does.
(Death) Final Lament: This ability allows them to stockpile the souls of those they have killed, to then be able to use them all to strengthen themselves for a short while, in this process all the souls they have been stockpiling will be spent and will need to be regained, in order to ever use this again. The number of souls stockpiled will affect level of strength gained.
(War) Scarlet Grudge: Much like Final Lament, this ability is a strengthening type, but what makes this one different, is that it is based on how much damage they have gained during a fight, meaning that the more damaged they have gained, the stronger they become. However, there is a caveat to this, as 1) it puts them in a berserker-like state making it a hazard towards friend and foe alike, and 2) there is a limit to how much damage they can take before the ability no longer works.
(Pestilence) Plagues Keeper: Unique in a sense that the ability makes them immune to poison and curses and also requires close contact with a target for it’s true purpose to take effect, resulting in this ability to not be as versatile as Final Lament and Scarlet Grudge, as it requires them to physically graze and wound the target for the ability to work. Any graze and wound that the target has gained from this ability will result in curses and poison to course through their veins that are incurable, and will slowly eat away at them until they die as a result, unless said Apocalypse Author willingly cures you themselves.
(Famine) Absence Eater: Unlike the others, this ability has no true benefit for the Apocalypse Author that this ability is tied to, but is vastly more versatile in a sense that it allows them to absorb and effectively nullify magic in a small radius around them, allowing them to force the target to use physical arms and strength against them in a fight. However, there are things the ability still cannot absorb and nullify, those being affinities that are not offensive or defensive.
With most groups and factions, there stands a leader, one who stands at the top of the others in both strength and power, and the Apocalypse Authors are no different, as Death is the official leader, after being the first Apocalypse Author to be chosen by the God of Destruction.
As for who the first Apocalypse Author to ever exist, it would be Famine, as they have been around for far longer than any of the others combined. Though not chosen by the God of Destruction himself, as they were the one to seek out the Lord of Calamity themselves by their own accord for reasons unknown.
