BlackRose incidents and current issues

Info and World Type

Lore

Unlike with other corporations and PMCs, where incidents and general issues are rare enough to become headline news, with BlackRose it becomes an entire other issue, as the number of incidents and issues on record, are far outnumbered by the amount of incidents and issues that have been wiped off the record and kept under wraps from the general public.

Below is a list of both incidents and general issues, where BlackRose is either the cause of the issues and incidents, or the result of a direct targeted incident.

  • The Nightingale incident: An entire incident that occurred after one of the oldest and most famous of ships within the BlackRose Navy, designated as the HWT Nightingale, went completely radio silent, only for it to then be later found again months after its last ping and message to central command. After BlackRose sent in an N.I.S team to investigate and find out what happened on board the Nightingale, and after the team came back with the intel and general information about the crew and the ship itself, with the entire crew being reported as dead, and with no bodies left behind to return to their families, and the ship itself being in a state of complete disrepair and disarray, along with information and concrete leads that the Chief Security Officer was the one behind the incident along with the deaths of all hands on board the ship, and was in contact with an outside source that was then later to be confirmed to be in relation to Lamenting Ouroboros. BlackRose has then since closed this case and classed this incident as a Code Black, meaning it is to be scrubbed clean from the record and never mentioned in present while an investigation is underway, along with the team that was sent in to investigate to be placed both under surveillance and under an NDA issued directly from central command, to never speak about the incident or about anything they found on board the ship to anyone.

  • Amethyst Valkyrie incident: Happening only 3 months before the Nightingale incident occurred, this very incident is classed only as a minor incident as it only had one casualty, that being Chief Security Officer Daniela Wood. Even though she was regarded by some as the creator and founder of the now current security system and OS that is now mandatory across all new ships within the BlackRose Navy to this very day, BlackRose higher ups simply designate this as a minor loss. According to reports on board the Amethyst Valkyrie, there was a small explosion only located in her private quarters, evidence concludes that it was directed entirely on her and her alone, as no one else was harmed in the explosion other than her, and that a few minutes before the explosion happened, an outward communication outside of normal command lines occurred, that link to the same network line that the Chief Security Officer on board the Nightingale used to make contact with their outside source. This incident has since been classed by BlackRose as Code Black as well.

  • The Project Asterius incident: Originally planned and designed to be a super soldier project under direct control of Dr. Christof Rösler from the BlackRose Northshore Labs. However, this project was not issued by or acting under BlackRose orders and was performed under the nose of BlackRose, using their name, funding, and assets in order to accomplish his own goal, with the hope and desire to gain even more funding and social power within BlackRose. The project itself was ethically immoral, as those who were in the project team would actively seek out orphaned children to use as subjects within the project, those subjects ideally ending up being genetically engineered and transformed into the perfect super soldier, however, there would only end up being one subject that survived the procedure and project. That survivor escaped after the neural link chip that would normally help the individual, unfortunately overloaded and fried parts of their brain, causing them to become a murderous psychopath with no morals. With the escape of the subject from the project, now designated as Asterius, being free and on the loose, subsequently gained the attention of BlackRose itself, causing them to finally notice the atrocities that both Dr. Christof Rösler and the Northshore Labs were committing under their name, resulting in them conducting a full investigation on the project, Lab and Christof. In the end Christof was fired and arrested and is now serving life in Scarlet Mountain Penitentiary, never to see the light of day again, the team involved in the project would also be fired and arrested, however, they would end up serving 20 years in a different prison, that being Edgefield Medium Security Prison, as evidence would conclude they were just following orders. BlackRose has since issued a direct Code Black regarding this incident due to the sensitivity of the subject, but at the same time issued a warning to the general public about the now designated Asterius, to be careful and run if they encounter the individual, along with contacting the Department of Federal Defense as soon as possible.

  • The Iron Rule of Chiron: An ongoing issue that plages the entire colony of Chiron, a small earth-like planet on the far reach of the United Colonies Federation and subsequent control of BlackRose, due to the planet landing within their jurisdiction. The issue stems from the assigned governor that BlackRose issued to the colony as part of their standard government procedure to ensure that the planet and colony has its own government system that align with BlackRose’s own government ruling system and laws. Prior to reselection and reinstalment that happens every twenty years for the governing rule of the selected colony and government, that BlackRose enforces as a mandatory check and law to ensure a secure and stable flow. Chiron was economically stable and relatively safe from crime and was regarded as a lead in political and economic pride, thanks to the help and rule from the former Governor, Owen Hill. However, after the reselection and reinstalment, the new governor of Chiron’s government, Serena Hunter, the entire planet, and colony is now under an iron rule. Those who take residence and subsequently are born there are now subjected to horrendous working conditions, and those that speak up and try to oppose the new rule are either forced to take up work in factories and manufacturing complexes that tie directly with Lunar Industries, though they themselves are unaware of this fact, or they just seemingly disappear never to be seen again. What makes this issue difficult, is that Serena Hunter is legally following BlackRose’s laws and general government procedures, as she herself is using a loophole in the law and ruling that BlackRose issues to formal colonies. While Chiron is now far more economically stable than it once was, it however, is far but safe from crime, as general funding to each sector of the colony has been drastically limited, though not so much as to oppose BlackRose laws and governing regulations, but enough to limit those sectors resulting in an increase in crime as a whole. Currently no one on Chiron can or actively do anything against the acting ruling governor of their government till the next reselection and reinstalment, which would be in fifteen years, as the current reselection and reinstalment only happened five years ago. With the lack of money that the people earn or have, it makes it almost impossible to leave the colony without breaking some laws, as leaving would require money and proper legal documentation, assuming the active law enforcement that serves directly under the authority of the acting governor allows anyone to leave without said money and legal documentation. BlackRose themselves are unaware of the issues that plage Chiron, as to them on paper, the colony is doing extremely well, and even if they knew what was happening legally speaking the governor is doing everything by the books, and in line their governing regulations, so there would be nothing they could do until the next mandatory reselection and reinstalment of the acting governing rule.

  • Blackmail of the Minister of Defence: This report documents a blackmail incident targeting Oscar Wood, Minister of Defence for BlackRose’s government sector, as brought to the attention of the Federal Defense Office on 15/02/2231. The incident comprises an anonymous communication from an individual identifying as “Rouge,” alleging Minister Wood’s involvement in embezzlement, political mismanagement related to the Chiron colony, and direct or indirect responsibility for the Amethyst Valkyrie and Nightingale incidents. This report outlines the context, investigative actions, preliminary analyses, and the potential ramifications for BlackRose leadership and operations. Background Minister Oscar Wood has served as the head of the Ministry of Defence for BlackRose’s government sector for the past twenty years. His tenure encompasses several high-profile and controversial events, notably the ongoing crisis on Chiron following the installment of Governor Serena Hunter, the classified Amethyst Valkyrie incident resulting in the death of his daughter Chief Security Officer Daniela Wood, and the Nightingale incident, both of which remain under code black classification. Recent scrutiny has intensified due to widespread reports of deteriorating conditions on Chiron, allegations of political mismanagement, and unexplained financial irregularities within government allocations. Minister Wood’s proximity to these events, and his influential position, render the blackmail allegations particularly sensitive and consequential. Details of the Blackmail The blackmail communication was received in the early hours of 14/02/2231 through a secure but compromised government intranet channel. The message, digitally signed “Rouge,” included encrypted attachments containing what appear to be financial ledgers, internal correspondence excerpts, and a series of voice logs purportedly implicating Minister Wood in unauthorized fund transfers and covert communications with actors linked to both the Amethyst Valkyrie and Nightingale incidents. The blackmailer demands Minister Wood’s immediate resignation, the public release of a formal apology regarding the Chiron crisis, and the transfer of an undisclosed sum of credits to an off-world account. The message threatens full disclosure of the evidence to BlackRose’s governing council and the Interstellar Press Syndicate should the demands remain unmet within seven days. Investigation Actions Upon receipt of the communication, the Federal Defense Office initiated standard protocol for high-security incidents, including digital forensics of the compromised channel and a preliminary review of the submitted evidence. The attachments were isolated within a secure sandbox environment for analysis by the Cybersecurity Task Force. Minister Wood was informed under strict confidentiality and placed under protective surveillance. Parallel efforts were launched to trace the origin of the “Rouge” identity, including examination of recent data breaches (see De@dCorE Data Breach), cross-referencing with known threat actors, and internal interviews with staff who had access to the implicated financial systems and classified communications. All relevant documentation and communication logs from the Chiron, Amethyst Valkyrie, and Nightingale cases have been subpoenaed for further review. Analysis Preliminary analysis of the evidence provided by Rouge indicates a high degree of technical sophistication and possible access to classified records, suggesting either an internal leak or a coordinated breach. The financial records show anomalies consistent with embezzlement, though their authenticity remains under forensic review. The references to the Amethyst Valkyrie and Nightingale incidents draw on information previously classified at the highest level, indicating that the blackmailer may possess or have had access to restricted internal documentation. However, at this stage, the veracity of the voice logs and correspondence is unconfirmed. The timeline and methods resemble those observed in the recent De@dCorE Data Breach, raising the possibility of a connected adversarial entity or insider threat. The allegations regarding political mismanagement on Chiron are consistent with ongoing reports and complaints from the colony but require further substantiation to attribute direct responsibility to Minister Wood. Implications Should the blackmail evidence prove genuine, the ramifications for BlackRose leadership and operational integrity are significant. Exposure of embezzlement and complicity in classified incidents would undermine public confidence, trigger leadership upheaval, and invite external oversight from the United Colonies Federation and allied regulatory bodies. The Chiron situation already presents a reputational risk, and confirmation of high-level corruption or mismanagement could catalyze civil unrest or legal action. Furthermore, the blackmail’s linkage to prior code black incidents suggests vulnerabilities in information security and internal oversight, potentially exposing BlackRose to further attacks or leaks. Conclusion and Recommendations  The blackmail incident involving Minister Oscar Wood presents a credible and immediate threat to BlackRose’s leadership and security posture. It is recommended that the evidence be subjected to expedited forensic validation, with results reported directly to the Executive Security Council. Minister Wood’s access to sensitive systems should be temporarily restricted pending the outcome of the investigation. Enhanced monitoring of all high-level communications and financial transactions is advised, alongside a comprehensive review of internal security protocols. Should the allegations be substantiated, immediate steps must be taken to initiate leadership transition procedures and to communicate transparently with internal stakeholders to mitigate further reputational and operational damage. Ongoing investigation into the identity and objectives of “Rouge” remains a top priority, with inter-agency cooperation strongly advised.

  • De@dCorE Data Breach: An isolated case incident that involves the archival database housed in the BlackRose government HQ, that contains all recorded and documented cases and incidents that involve and relate to BlackRose themselves. The incident itself was the result of a coordinated attack on the network by an individual simply going by the name R0guE along with the aid of a proxy called ParAd0x, and the two managed to slip through all security operations and firewalls thanks to R0guE seemingly finding and altering the security code to allow entry through a backdoor in the subnet. How they managed to do that is unknown at the current time, but what is known is that with this backdoor established ParAd0x then uploaded a virus given to them by R0guE called De@dCorE, that once fully uploaded unleashed havoc upon the network, copying everything in the archival database with an oddly strict timeline along with blocking access from BlackRose for five days during the process.  After the virus collected everything it was programmed and coded to copy and collect, it sent all the data back to R0guE and then it simply terminated and deleted itself from the entire network leaving no trace behind, leaving R0guE to finish up by realtering the security code and patching out the backdoor in the subnet as if it was nothing.  At this moment BlackRose’s security team and Naval Intelligence Sector have zero leads or evidence on this R0guE individual or ParAd0x, and after this breach occurred BlackRose has since instated a level 5 security upon all network access within BlackRose and any subnet within their systems, while an indefinite investigation is underway. It is also unknown how much info and data R0guE has gained or if they have any ulterior motive to sell the collected information and data on the black market or use it for another attack on BlackRose in the future.
