Personality

To dance on the border of madness and sanity, is to be cloaked in the mist of the abyss. Both psychologically unhinged more so than the once known Fairy King, and ever so loyal, and empathic far beyond that of any Abyssal Born. Is what defines, who Venera is.

A morally mixed and conflicted woman, filled with the monstrous anger and vile inescapable evil nature of an Abyssal Born, and the iron steadfast will to protect and do what is right above all else.

While being unhinged and morally conflicted, and a true honourable knight of the royal guards, she at heart is a loving woman who puts her family first above anything else, and someone who despite her own bloodline being that of chaos and deceit, she herself is a black sheep of Abyssal Born kind. Choosing to follow acts of virtue and valour, for the cause of doing what is truly right in the world, even going as far as to fight her own instincts of her kind in order to become something better, for the purpose of following her goal and her own code.

Background/info

Once the famed captain of the Knights Hollow and right-hand advisor of the Queen of Terminus herself, she was by virtue alone, a knight of unparalleled will and power. Honoured and respected by all the knight’s guards and people of the realm itself, second only to the Queen herself. But now is hated by those that remember her as a traitor, and at worst forgotten and discarded as nothing more than an old tale of a Fool of the Void.

Her story starts in the city of Ridgemourn, the capital city of the Midnight Kingdom of Terminus. Born into a family of loyalists to the throne and the Divinity of Ruination in all its grim glory, fostered a childhood fuelled with nought but deceit and misery, that to most Abyssal Born within the realm, would in a sense be that of normality, and unquestionable devotion. With a vision so blind to the will of the Gods of the Divinity of Ruination that any other act outside of the usual norm of zeal from the masses, would be that of blasphemous nature. Something so against the greater will that none would ever think to fight against it.

However, Venera was a black sheep among her kind, seeking to attain answers anew, and become something more than another monster in the endless black sea of nihilistic woe and anguish. To become a star of subsequent hope in the perpetual night sky, ever so high, yet ever so guiding to those walking within a sunless dawn. Despite her dream and desire to become something greater, her own mother and father would by nature alone, crush her dreams by hammering in the almost cult like mentality and methodology of the kingdom and religious cause of the divinity.

With her own parent’s looming over her with the weight of absolute zeal and control over her future irrespective of her desires. One would assume her childhood would be that of unfeeling hate, with a longing so unobtainable and unreachable that to call it a dream would be laughable. But, despite the ever present destined will and iron grip over her heart and mind, she would push through and persevere. This almost unwavering will to go against fate itself, would end up becoming even stronger after the birth of her younger sister Vala, years later. A point that was made evident when their parents would end up trying to do the same thing to Vala as they did to her.

This would end up fostering a sense of devotion, not to the divinity or the throne, but a devotion to family, and to do what is right for her future outside the influence of their parents will. Amidst eternal sea of might, power, and glory of the many, to achieve her soul desire to give her only sister a better life, she would need to climb the proverbial ladder in this hierarchical order. She would then seek to join the Knights Hollow, to which she would at first only see the order as nought but a collective of fools that continue the folly of the Gods and throne. Though, on the faithful day, a day seen as a major religious event, the Hand of Might's Purge, an event that would occur every ten thousand years with the purpose to remove and expunge those of lesser rank, those below B rank would have their lives forfeited, and offered up to the Divinity to ease the burden of the weak life they live.

In which case both her mother and father were among the chosen flock to be released of their burden, and be sent back into the Valley of Emptiness, a place where all life began within the realm, and where all returns to upon the day of final breath. Losing both your parents would, by normal means, be devastating and heartbreaking, to lose the ones you call family. But, for Venera, it filled her with hope and relief, but at the same time filled her with worry, as her sister no longer had the security of family to help take care of her. So now she would need to both take care of her and continue her work as a knight of the order as one of the Knights Hollow.

Despite her new mantle and willing path as an almost parental figure in a sense for her sister, ensuring that she had everything she needed to live a comfortable and easy life, in this cruel and murky world void of any ray of light. Given time Venera’s unshakable desire to climb the ladder of the hierarchical system that governs the order and realm, to ensure a safe life for her only family, she would in time achieve something far greater and far beyond what she ever sought to attain. By all accounts she should not have made it this far, and yet she managed to attain the position of Captain of the Knights Hollow, along with being the advisor of the Queen of Terminus and right hand of the Divinity.

This position was something that she never thought to attain, as it was something that a Black Sheep of the Abyss should not and could not be granted, as she herself did not believe she had any right to be above those below. But alas, she had no say in the matter, she would have to accept the new path that she must walk. A millennium after she was anointed her new position in the societal hierarchy, her fate would on the surface, appear to be set in stone, with all the knight's order under her authority and direct ties with those Gods of the Divinity, as she at long last attained and reached her goal and childhood desire of being something more, with the power to make a change. But this was not to be, as by either some cruel joke, or a punishment from the Gods for her lack of faith, as her own sister, her only family, was chosen by the God of Destruction himself to be the final Apocalypse Author, the Apocalypse Author of Pestilence.

With her sister now among the very pinnacle of ruin and chaos, and those who blindly follow the Divinity and the will of the Lord of Calamity, making her about as unreachable as the very stars above the night sky. This would end up pulling at her mind, along with shattering her very will and resolve, as everything she stood for and risked to ensure a safe and happy life for her dear sister would only end in ruin and pain. Despite this twist of fate, she would try and challenge all her authority to seek the release of her sister as that of Pestilence, and for the Lord of Calamity to seek someone else, someone with no family that would be better suited to his will.

But the God did not listen, and instead asked Famine to Mold her into the perfect follower and hand of his very will, even going as far as to ask the Queen to forbid her from intervening in the affairs of the Apocalypse Authors. This would leave a sour taste in her mouth, as the ones that she now follows and helps protect truly are heartless and loveless Gods, that care nought for the people in a true sense, but sees the people that have undying love and unbreaking loyalty to both crown and blind religious faith in the Gods of the Divinity, as nothing but tools, tools in the hands of vile fools who care nought for what they think or what they wish for.

After everything she did to attain her position and authority for the betterment of her sister, it would all be for nothing in the end given her sisters new path as a tool and weapon of the God of Destruction. Centuries would soon pass and Venera would slowly begin to lose the will to fight back against fate, almost choosing to abandon hope for a better and happier life for Vala. If not for tales about the Demon realm having a group of rebels who willingly choose to fight against fate itself and the status quo of their realm, then she would have confined herself to her hopeless position in the world, feeling forever helpless in not being able to help her sister.

With knowledge in her heart that there are those in another realm with a desire so strong as to fight fate itself, those that she could serve with an ever-true unbreakable loyalty that she always desired and wanted, she sought to leave the hellish spiraling abyss of the void. Before she fully committed to her plan to leave and abandon both the throne and the Divinity, she would try and seek out her sister one last time in the ruins of the Divinum Sanctorum Temple. She would then since try to convince her that the path she now walks would only end in ruin, pain, and misery, and that she did not want to lose her to that dark and unforgiving nightmare that would await her, as she was the only family she had left and did not want to lose her.

However, at this point it was too late, as Vala was too blinded by faith and by the honeyed words of Famine to ever see the light, to a point that she even accused Venera of being a blasphemous liar and horrible person. Saddened by this, and the loss of the once ever so sweet and caring little sister, she would attempt to kiss her on the forehead before leaving, only to end up being marked by Vala’s own power, leaving a permanent scar on her lip, a now constant reminder of her failure as her big sister and as her only family to be there for her.

In the end after her final encounter with Vala, she would leave the realm, and completely abandon everything that she once held, and travelled to the Demon realm where she would willingly join the Paragons of the echo, and despite her being from a different realm and of a completely different race she was accepted as one of them. Even being surprisingly granted position of head guard of both Yuuki and Youichi Moonvail. With her now fighting against fate and now being on the side to fight the rule of the Demon King and everything that the Divinity of Ruination stands for, would mark her as a traitor and blasphemous betrayer of the realm and throne.
